Pastor Matthew Burt is the preaching and teaching pastor and elder at WellSpring Church, and has served the church since 2008.  He was graduated from Hamilton Township High School in Columbus, Ohio in 1970, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and TV Production from John Brown University in Arkansas.  He worked for Forus Communication from 1976 to 1984, and then received his M. Div. from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.  From 1989 to 2007, he served as the senior pastor of Evangelical Covenant Church in Springfield.  Pastor Burt married his wife Regine in 1978 and they have two daughters, Lauren and Lyndsey, and two grandchildren. 

Some of Pastor Burt’s influences include authors Francis Scaheffer, James I. Packer, John Piper and John MacArthur; professors Roger N. Nicole, James Walter, Gwyn Walters, and Haddon Robinson; and pastors Don Logue of Faith Covenant Church in St. Petersburg, Florida and Chuck Tompkins of Eastern Hills Bible Church in Manlius, New York; and he considers 18^th century pastor Charles Simeon to be his hero.

The Burts enjoy traveling outside the country, vacationing on the Maine coast and listening to Red Sox games while playing board games.  Pastor Burt also enjoys reading, listening to music, cycling, kayaking, hiking and cooking.

Paul Dernavich grew up in Barre, Vermont, and was graduated from Babson College in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  Upon graduation, he joined the family granite business and later established several granite and construction-related businesses.  He is currently self-employed, representing global granite companies.  Paul married his wife Ginny in 1966 and the couple has two sons: Drew, who is a cartoonist for the New Yorker, and Jeffrey, who is a vice president of a software company in Atlanta.  They also have two grandchildren, Lindsey and Carter.  Paul and Ginny enjoy traveling, golfing, bicycling and spending time with their grandchildren.  They have been a host couple for Executive Ministries, facilitating Bible studies for over 20 years, and they have been involved with the Springfield Businessman’s Bible Study for over 30 years.
